40th Birthday Giant Cupcake

Here's a fab fun birthday cake, a giant cupcake! Finished with buttercream topping and fondant decoration, this cupcake serves around 12-16 depending on how its cut.

We created some coordinating "normal" sized cupcakes too, to go with it.

Ever popular, here's a Frozen themed birthday cake for Stevie who turned 6! Handmade Olaf figure on the top and lots of snowflakes and sparkles (which are hard to see in the photo!).

James Bond 007 themed birthday cake

One of my first cakes of the year was this James Bond themed birthday cake. Three tiers of chocolate sponge cake decorated with various handmade aspects of the films including a Walther PPK, casino chips, playing cards and a saxophone to reflect the musical interests of the recipient. Please ignore the Christmas decorations in the background - it was too large a cake to fit in my usual photography "studio"!

Naked wedding cake

Naked cakes have become so popular! I love the simplicity of them, and they're perfect for an informal or vintage wedding as you can decorate them with so much! Here's one we delivered to The Woodman Inn at Thunderbridge, decorated with fresh fruit. Three tiers of vanilla sponge cake filled with delicious vanilla buttercream - yum!

Peony ruffles 2 tier wedding cake

Here's a design I created a while back as I was really keen to ruffle! I'd seen ruffles everywhere and thought I should have a go. This is a two tier wedding cake with ruffles to the taller bottom tier. Finished with a coral sugar peony, one of my favourite flowers.

Pink and Grey Vintage Cupcakes

Here we created a cupcake tower for a beautiful wedding reception held at Berties in Elland. The bride and groom had chosen dusky pinks and greys as their colours, so we created a variety of toppers for the cupcakes with a mix of fondant topped cupcakes and those topped with a swirl of delicious buttercream. We also created a small cake for the top of the tower which was iced in grey with edible lace and some handmade sugar roses. The couple love their dogs, so asked if we could put figures of the dogs on there too!

Congratulations to Leanne and David x

Hessian and fresh flowers wedding cake

Here is a cake we created a while ago now for the wedding of Sam and Dan. They had seen a design I created and wanted it tailored to suit their scheme, so we used hessian ribbon and real flowers provided by their florist. Perfect for a rustic wedding.

Congratulations to Sam and Dan! x

Hydrangeas Wedding Cake

Here is a cake we delivered to East Riddlesden Hall, Keighley recently. Our bride Becky approached us and asked if we could decorate some cakes her gran had baked for her. I love that it would be such a family orientated wedding, with everyone involved! The cakes were iced in royal icing and then finished with beautiful fresh flowers provided by the florist.

Hopefully I'll get a better picture!

Huge congratulations to Becky and Jon! x

Roses and Lace Vintage Wedding Cake

So, our blog has moved. We were originally at www.joscakeshuddersfield.blogspot.com, however a few technical bugs cropped up and I've had to move! Here you'll find all our fabulous creations :)

This week has been a bit quieter than usual, which has given me a chance to breathe following last week's crazy week! Here is one of the cakes from last week which we delivered to the beautiful Waterton Park Hotel in Wakefield. Our bride Sarah had seen one of our designs but wanted it tailored to suit her own wedding, so we made a few tweaks including changing the colour of the roses to suit her wedding.

Massive congratulations to Sarah and her new husband x
