Semi-naked cakes are still a huge trend in the world of wedding cakes, presumably because there are so many ways to decorate them!
For this event, I created a bit of a combination, with one tier being traditionally iced then two semi-naked cake tiers sat on top. These were dusted with edible gold leaf to tie in with the gold lustre on the bottom tier, which was displayed on a tree stump adorned with lots of foliage. I went on a foraging mission to my friend Jane from
Woo B Woo who kindly provided me with some fresh flowers to decorate it with too.
I'd seen (probably on Pinterest, though I forget where!) a golden hoop back drop and wanted to create my own as a display piece for this cake. One afternoon I went on a bit of a mad scavenger hunt and finally found a child's hula hoop. I then peeled all the horrible shiny stripy glitteryness off, sprayed it gold using some specialist paint spray and ta-da! I had a gold hoop. My very clever husband attached it to a block of wood for me so it would stand up unaided, and I decorated it with some fresh flowers and some foliage from my garden including rosemary and ivy. Doesn't it look fabulous!? I can see this making a lot more outings with me :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
