Semi-Naked Wedding Cake with Edible Gold...

Semi-naked cakes are still a huge trend in the world of wedding cakes, presumably because there are so many ways to decorate them!

For this event, I created a bit of a combination, with one tier being traditionally iced then two semi-naked cake tiers sat on top. These were dusted with edible gold leaf to tie in with the gold lustre on the bottom tier, which was displayed on a tree stump adorned with lots of foliage. I went on a foraging mission to my friend Jane from Woo B Woo who kindly provided me with some fresh flowers to decorate it with too.

I'd seen (probably on Pinterest, though I forget where!) a golden hoop back drop and wanted to create my own as a display piece for this cake. One afternoon I went on a bit of a mad scavenger hunt and finally found a child's hula hoop. I then peeled all the horrible shiny stripy glitteryness off, sprayed it gold using some specialist paint spray and ta-da! I had a gold hoop. My very clever husband attached it to a block of wood for me so it would stand up unaided, and I decorated it with some fresh flowers and some foliage from my garden including rosemary and ivy. Doesn't it look fabulous!? I can see this making a lot more outings with me :)

Five Tier Semi-Naked Drippy Wedding Cake with Macarons

This is a cake I created for a lovely couple, Rich and Natalie. They had seen a design online by Anges de Sucre and asked if I could create something similar, so I had a go! Five tiers of cake finished in a semi-naked style, topped with chocolate ganache drips and decorated with different flavours of macarons in different pastel shades.

Macarons are not my favourite things in the world, and more ended up in the bin than on the cake, but they taste AMAZING! They'd be fabulous wedding favours :)

This cake was delivered to the beautiful East Riddlesden Hall in Keighley, which is a stunning venue for anyone wanting a rustic barn-style wedding. They even have ducks! :) x
